How to make your Stan Store products aesthetic

Stan Store is one of the simplest e-commerce options to set up and use but what happens when you want to level-up the look of your product? Here are my tips to make your Stan Store products aesthetic.

WHY WRITE ABOUT AESTHETICS
I’ve been using Stan Store for more than a year now and am EXTREMELY happy with it. It’s the easiest and quickest e-commerce shop I’ve used – and I’m saying that as someone who has built multiple WordPress websites with e-commerce capability, as well as setting up Etsy and print on demand shops. The store itself has a wide range of themes and aesthetics, but products and landing pages are more bare bones. So below are some of the ways I’ve made my landing pages and products more aesthetic.
For an introduction to Stan Store, I’ve written a ‘What is Stan Store?’ article to get you going.
YOUR ‘HERO’ PRODUCT IMAGE OR GRAPHIC
The ‘hero’ or main image / graphic of your product is arguably the most important element of your product, along with its name. On Stan Store, this is in a strong horizontal format and should help tell what your product is, whether that’s an ebook, course, membership or podcast / audio bundle.
Luckily, this can be relatively easy to create as a mock-up – that is, a representation of your product. My favourite place to create mock-ups is Canva, on either the free or paid ‘Pro’ membership. If you’re selling an ebook, Canva has a drop shadow option in the editing options that helps make your cover image look more three-dimensional. Canva also has a built-in mock-up app, where you can upload screenshots of your product onto screens on desktops, laptops, tablets and phones with different backgrounds. From there, you can download the mock-up or open it in another Canva design.
For my Speedy Socials Kit graphic above, I’ve used what Canva calls ‘frames’ of a desktop, mobile and tablet grouped together, showing all the ways the course can be accessed. The frames are my brand colours, to which I’ve added screenshots of the Speedy Socials planner.
BRINGING YOUR PRODUCT TO LIFE – SHOW DON’T TELL
Your product description needs to be broken down into small, easily digestible pieces, so that viewers, aka potential buyers will read all the way through.
Some ways you can do this include:
- Headings
- Lists (like this one)
- Bolding important text
- Using screenshots of your product in use
- Graphics of social proof / testimonials
You can make sub-headings using bold text in capitals, helping them stand out with an extra return underneath. Bullet points or emojis are perfect for lists of benefits or ideal buyers.
Visuals such as screenshots or screen recordings can bring your product to life, especially when putting before and after photos beside each other to show the transformation your product can make. Below are a couple of graphics I created for Speedy Socials Kit, using screenshots.
EXTRA VISUALS THAT MAKE STAN STORE PRODUCTS AESTHETIC
Testimonials and reviews from people who have used your product, taken your course or are in your membership are some of the strongest reasons that people buy, so don’t ignore them!
You can use Canva (again!) to create speech bubble graphics around these kind words, which helps add visual interest to your page and flag that these are quotes.
Use large text that can be read easily when viewers are on their phones and test it on yours. I found I needed at least 36point text on my graphics, but this will vary, depending on which fonts you’re using.
